Earpeep dis
I reconned the area a week before, so I expected to be generally ignored by people having bar conversation. I did not expect the level of disorganization, however.
Before the set:
Band that was supposed to play before me showed up late and decided not to play
Owner didn’t show up with a mixing board until two minutes before my set time. Practically zero venue support. I had been scrambling around with my friends trying to find a way to get sound going for half an hour. Came pretty close to running my sound through a guitar amp.
During the set:
Buck Hunter arcade game being played three feet away from me.
A guy came up onstage to scope out my laptop and APC.
Old lady stood in front of me and danced.
A guy came up and invited me to compete in a beat battle days later; asked for my contact info as I’m in the middle of playing.
This bar is half of the same building space. The other half has a DJ/Hip hop vibe, and they have live stuff happening at the same time. During my show I could hear rap beats booming in.
The band after me (good friend, also) decided not to play. They were happy about it. It kinda bummed me out, but I feel good about stepping out and fulfilling my obligations despite the obvious fact the bar didn’t give a crap
